Medal of Honor	The Medal of Honor (MOH) is not about one single action, it is about many. It is about valor, integrity and tremendous career achievements. It is about devotion and self sacrifice. It is about doing what has to be done to achieve a goal in combat, even if it means putting oneself in harms way. It is about giving for the team, not even thinking about own score or record. To be the first to step in and do what has to be done, in war time, in peace time, no matter what the issue. It is about what we call Honor. The MOH determination is also measured against past war performances. The decision to give this award must be unanimous between the FADM, the CNO and the DCNO.								FADM/ CNO
Navy Cross	The Navy Cross is the 2nd highest award for combat valor and non-combat services.  For extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force.  It is also awarded for reaching the 500 kill mark.   A Gold Star is worn for each additional award of the Navy Cross.    A silver star is worn in lieu of 5 gold stars.  Awarded for combat only. Distinguished Service Medal	The Distinguished Service Medal is awarded for both combat valor and non-combat services of exceptionally meritorious service to the SSN Division in a position of great responsibility.  It is also awarded for reaching the 400 kill mark.  A Gold Star is worn for each subsequent award of the DSM.  A Silver Star is worn in lieu of 5 Gold Stars. Silver Star	The Silver Star is the third highest military award designated for heroism in combat and achieving 300 kills. A Gold Star for each subsequent award. A Silver Star is worn in lieu of 5 Gold Stars.								CNO DCNO
Defense Superior Service Medal	The Defense Superior Service Medal (DSSM) is awarded by the CNO to officers who perform superior meritorious service while in a position of significant responsibility. This medal is also awarded to the top scorer in a given month. A Gold Star is worn for each subsequent award. A Silver Star is worn in lieu of 5 Gold.								CNO DCNO
Legion of Merit	The Legion of Merit is awarded for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service.  It is also awarded for reaching the 200 kill mark.  A Gold Star is worn for subsequent awards. A silver Star is worn in lieu of 5 gold stars.								CNO DCNO
Bronze Star	The Bronze Star is awarded for heroic or meritorious achievement of service in connection with operations against an opposing armed force.  It is also awarded for achieving 100 kills. A Gold Star is worn for each subsequent award. A Silver Star is worn in lieu of 5 Gold.								CNO DCNO
Purple Heart	The Purple Heart is awarded for wounds or death as result of an act of any opposing armed force. A Gold Star is worn for each additional award. A Silver Star is worn in lieu of 5 Gold Stars.								CNO DCNO
Meritorious Service Medal	The Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) is a junior award of the Legion of Merit and is presented for either outstanding achievement or meritorious service in a non-combat situation or setting.  The MSM is also awarded to an officer who dives 10 times a week for 8 consecutive weeks. Gold Star is worn for subsequent awards.  A Silver Star is worn in lieu of 5 Gold Stars.								CNO DCNO CINC
Navy Commendation Medal	The Navy Commendation Medal (NCM) is awarded for heroism, meritorious achievement or meritorious service and those who distinguish themselves by heroic action, outstanding achievement, or meritorious service.  Mostly awarded for successful bounty claims.  A Gold Star is worn for each subsequent award. A Silver Star is worn in lieu of 5 Gold Stars.								CNO DCNO CINC
Navy Achievement Medal	The Navy Achievement Medal is awarded for professional and/or leadership achievements that are clearly of a superlative nature. The Navy Achievement Medal may now also be presented for most reported combat missions in a given month. A Gold Star is worn for each subsequent award. A Silver Star is worn in lieu of 5 Gold Stars.								CNO DCNO CINC
Good Conduct Medal	The Good Conduct Medal is awarded for 10 consecutive weeks of active service.  It can be also awarded for creditable above-average nature in the areas of professional performance, military behavior, leadership, online appearance and adaptability. A Gold Star is worn for each subsequent Award. A Silver Service Star is worn in lieu of 5 Gold.								CNO DCNO CINC    FC/ XO
China Service Medal	The China Service Medal is awarded to members who served for 30 days in the Chinese theater of operations between January - March 2002.								CNO DCNO CINC
National Defense Medal	The National Defense Medal is awarded for the successful completion of the SSN Naval Training Command.								CNO DCNO CTO
Korean Service Medal	The Korean Service Medal is awarded to members who served for 30 days in the Korean theater of operations between February - March 2003.								CNO DCNO
Antartic Service Medal	The Antartic Service Medal is awarded to members who served for 30 days in the Antartic theater of operations between May - June of 2000.								CNO DCNO
Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal	The Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal is awarded for actions taken on a person's own initiative to further the aims and objectives in the SSN division. This award distinguiushes those officers who personify unselfishness and continued service beyond the call of duty.								CNO DCNO CINC CTO  DWD
Ribbons (Combat, Campain & Training)
Combat Action Ribbon	The Combat Action ribbon is awarded to any officer who takes part in a war or campaign.  They must file a minimum of (1) one mission report.								CNO DCNO
Indian Ocean Service Medal	The Indian Ocean Service ribbon is awarded to members who served for 30 days in the Indian Ocean theater of operations between August - September 2000, November - December 2001 and March - April 2004.								CNO DCNO
Atlantic Service Ribbon	The Atlantic Service ribbon is awarded to members who served for 30 days in the Atlantic theater of operations between September - November 2002.								CNO DCNO
Operation World Shield Ribbon	The Operation World Shield ribbon is awarded to members who served for 30 days in the campaign between October - November 2004.								CNO DCNO
Operation Limburger Ribbon	The Operation Limburger ribbon is awarded to members who served for 30 days in the campaign between February - March 2003.								CNO DCNO
Battle E Award	The Battle Excellence Award ribbon is awarded to the top scorer in each fleet each month. Award can be given for top score, most improvement, activity participation, overall performance. The 5th award will be *gold*.								CNO DCNO CINC FC/XO
Sea Service Award	The Sea Service Award ribbon is issued annually to each officer on theor join date.  Each award will have the number of years served on center.  Officers that have reported 49 or less mission in the given year earn a silver number.  Officers that report over 50 mission in the given year are awarded a gold number. Advanced War College	The Advanced War College ribbon is awarded to every officer that successfully completes the Advanced War College course.								CNO WCC
Air Officer Basic Course	The Air Officer Basic Course (AOBC) ribbon is awarded to those officers that complete the AOBC in the Dangerous Waters platform using the P-3.								CNO   CTO
War College	The War College ribbon is awarded to every officer that successfully completes the War College course.								CNO WCC
Kill Ribbon	The Kill ribbon is awarded in increments of 100.  Each award will have the roman numeral equivalent centered on the ribbon.								CNO DCNO CINC
