SINKEX Returns

~S~ All hands, I am pleased to announce the return of the SINKEX!

Beginning with May, (Because I forgot to post this weekends, apologies) we will have a monthly SINKEX dive. The first will be Friday May 2nd 2008 beginning at 1600PDT.

The rules are the same, scoring will be reviewed and modified as needed, but any changes will affect the NEXT SINKEX, so any discrepancies can be fixed without ruining someones current bonus score.

1) ALL SSN Seawolves participants MUST e-mail RDML Kirk, CC myself, the dive report summary for each dive no later than the Monday following the exercise or that dive will not be scored..
2) The exercise will begin Friday evening at 16:00 Pacific (23:00 GMT) and conclude on Sunday at 16:00 Pacific, (23:00 GMT), dates to be given monthly.
3) NCMs will be awarded for the top diver in most kills and most wins categories. (NAM if less than five dives, no award for only one dive).
4) Dives with GNSF AND Silent Shadows, standard dive logging is required. SINKEX reports can be abbreviated.
5) Bonus points will be awarded as follows:
A} All divers will receive 10 points for the first dive, and 5 points each dive after, to a maximum of 50 points participation bonus for the exercise.
B} Win / Kill / Draw Bonus Points as follows:
Divers get 10 points per Human kill, (AI kills in DW do not count for SINKEX games, in the event of a cooperative mission both divers will receive only the win points and the participation points.) 10 points per win and 5 points per draw multiplied by a modifier as follows:
Modifier base is 1. For each rank above the divers rank add .1, (1/10th) to the modifier. For each rank below the diver subtract .1, (1/10th) from the modifier, minimum modifier of .7.

Example: ENS n00b dives against RADM Rusty bucket 1st dive of the exercise for both divers Scenario 1: ENS n00b kills the RADM and wins. He receives 10 points for sinking the admiral, and 10 points for the win, multiplied by the modifier of 1.7 (RADM is 7 ranks above ENS); PLUS 10 participation points for his first dive of the exercise, for a total of 44 bonus points for the dive.
[(10+10)1.7]+10=44
Scenario 2 same divers, the admiral wins, sinking the ENS. He receives 10 points for sinking the Ensign, and 10 points for the win, multiplied by the modifier of .7 (RADM is 7 ranks above ENS, raw modifier is .3 enacting the limit to give .7); PLUS 10 participation points for his first dive of the exercise, for a total of 24 bonus points for the dive.
[(10+10).7]+10=24
Scenario 3 same divers, second or later dive of the exercise and a draw game. The Ensign gets 5 points for a draw multiplied by the modifier of 1.7 for 8.5 points, plus 5 participation points for a total of 13.5 points, rounded up for 14 points for the dive.
(5x1.7)+5=13.5 Round to 14
Meanwhile the Admiral gets the same 5 points for the draw, multiplied by his modifier of .7 for 3.5 points, plus the 5 participation points for 8.5 dive bonus, again rounded to 9.
(5x.7)+5=8.5 Round to 9.

Sample dive report summary:
1) From: LCDR Adui CINC-VN
Participants: LCDR Adui CINC-VN, ENS n00b 1st
Game sim: DW Map 8-015
Out come: Win 1 kill
2) From: ENS n00b 1st fleet
Participants: ENS n00b 1st
Game sim: DW
Outcome: loss 0 kills
3) From: VADM Rust bucket SR 3rd
Participants: VADM Rust Bucket SR 3rd, LT killer 7th, GNSF LCDR platinum TF73
Outcome: Draw, 1 kill- (LT Killer 7th)

Note: in the last example I stated who was killed. In order to properly score any dive with more than two participants you MUST tell me who you sunk so that the proper modifier can be applied, Failure to do so will result in the minimum modifier available to your rank being applied! If all other participants were sunk by your hand list each independently.
Second note: while I gave no detailed summary in my examples, feel free to write up the blow by blow details of the dive, I love a good story, and will request authorization to add a point or two for a creative write up. (We got extra in SOAC for such details so why not!)

Fare well to a friend

~S~ All hands please join me in wishing LCDR Juhlin (RET) fair winds and following seas as he leaves us.

I want you all to know that the LCDR made his intentions clear to me long before now, and has only stayed on this long out of duty to the SSN.
LCDR Juhlin has intended to leave us since this latest split began, but had the honor and sense of duty to stay in his posting until I had time to get some of the staff positions filled, and to regain order in the fleet.

As I did for our former VCNO, I have granted retirement, and extended the hand of friendship eternally with this officer. I expect all SSN members to do the same.

Some will question the allowance for a non-flag officer, a LCDR no less, to have retirement. I say that while his rank did not warrant it; his staff position, and the manner of his service to us does.

That is all

VCNO

All hands;

I am pleased to report that RDML Kirk has indeed accepted the VCNO billet. We have a long road ahead, but I believe we have a good command staff in place, and I know the members are good people. We will recover, and move forward!

You will also notice that we have moved all members to the first fleet. This was necessary for the short term while we regroup and take inventory on our assets. Once I am sure we have the people and the resources we will open the other fleets backup.Until then, please hold fast. Activity will help. Do not stop diving, we are here for the game so PLAY THE GAME.

That is all for now
