| FROM THE FLEET ADMIRAL: |
COPY THAT.......
What drew you to the Seawolves?
Tom Clancy book called Submarine, later a game was inspired from it which referenced the 688i, in which referenced the blue book and where it came from the Seawolves and that's how I got here.
How old are you?
67, I have been a Seawolf for ten years now.
What city/state do you reside?
Chicago, Illinois
How did you choose your nickname?
1999 Movie called GhostDog about a black samurai assassin.
What are some of your hobbies?
XBOX, PS3, Computer Simulations
Previous military experience? If so, number of years? highest rank? profession in the armed forces?
3 years, E5 Light Weapons Infantry, a grunt.
What kind of music do you like to listen to?
All kinds (classical, R&B, Country, Rock..etc)
Who would you say you look up to in the SeaWolves?
ADM Mudflap

What is your favorite simulator?
Dangerous Waters, because of the voice commands that actually do what you say and respond.
What is your favorite platform? favorite map?
FFG, haven't looked at current set of maps but something with a heavy sea-state where you have to captain the ship against the elements
I see you have __ dives/flights, could you briefly tell me about one?
Most kills are sub vs. sub, typically when asked to do a mission mostly sub vs. sub
What is one of the coolest strategies you've used?
Instigation. When I was an Ensign I provoked 3 senior officers to kill each other while I remained the only one left alive as I watched the torpedoes heading in different directions. Patience is a virtue.
What are some things you like about the SeaWolves?
Like-minded people, hard to find people who have similar interests at first it makes you feel like you're weird thinking no-one thinks similarly or likes the same things you do.
What is something you would like to see changed?
War College. Needs to be more tactics, leading an attack in war mission which would not be based on guesses where individuals can take responsibilities.

What are some of your goals with the SeaWolves?
Get it back to better than before where there are 600+ members. The environment has changed since strong console makes it easier for simplified gratification whereas PC simulations require more and Dangerous Waters requires more. We have to engage individuals starting out, if they go 72 hours or more we lose them.
Why do I play Dangerous Waters?
3 Reasons- Hunting, Being Hunted, Complexities of the Hunt. With each platform comes strengths and weaknesses, the roles of prey and predator change quickly based on many different factors. The immersive type of experience in that you have to know what you are doing to stay alive, if you can survive the first 30 minutes of the game then you can start using the information you are given from your environment to turn the predator into the prey.
Most interesting story-

4 people on the dive ADM blue, CAPT labo, myself and 3 others. I went deep and sat on the bottom while Labo was trying to kill blue missed me because of the floor safety. Labo thought I was cheating, in which I had to later tell him I was sitting on the bottom! An interesting point to note is to let an opponent pass over then fire a snap shot in their baffles and they won't figure it out until the later how they died!
Mentioning note- We are the only group to be mentioned by a major publisher. We are also beta tester of Sub Command and Dangerous Waters. Kim Castro- referenced by blue book from blue who served on attack subs, writing the technical manual on sub simulation. True submarines are same as simulators which both points having strengths and weaknesses as either a sailor vs. being a technician as some perceive it.
Ghostdog also stated that he knows why the American sub surfaced and sank a Japanese sailboat. This is because a sub cannot hear a water logged wooden vessel, since it could not be heard (ie. no propeller) the captain did not know it was above him.

FROM THE ACADEMY.....
Cadet Fra- has been playing Dangerous Water for over 4 years and hunts with the Akula like a vengence. Fra has over 7 logged training dives!
Cadet Morpheus308 hunts subs from P3 like a true killer. Morpheus has 6 flights/dives and seems to be interested in both the P3 and Seawolf.
Cadet Scumdog used to be with old Marauder fleet, let us welcome him back!
Black Shark School
CAPT Sparchy and LT Spectre started Black Shark School at the request of Brigadier General Firefox after ADM Dagman passed it over to STAT. This was based on the idea of the sub/flight school for the virtual navy. Officers Sparchy, Spectre, Predatoriguana, Subs and Hotrod
are playing of Black Shark from the virtual navy. The CAPT and LT are not certain when this training module will be full functional as it is still in the preliminary test phases. This will be a more hands off instruction than sub/flight school. The simulation creates a replay track for critique by To's rather than waiting for a TO to sign off on elements like in sub/flight school. The arcade mode is forbidden for training purposes, and CAPT Sparchy states that fixed wing pilots should toss out everything they know as this simulator has a larger learning curve and jamming the stick over will make it bite back. The scoring system is still being worked on, as the TO will introduce the material, let the trainee go and do unless they are in need of specific assistance. //EIC

GET ON THE BOUNTY DIVES:
You learn lots from the replay. and most here can kill them and take the bounty on a great day...
OTS Shot (Over the Shoulder):
Thanks to CAPT Sparchy for showing me this one.No, this isn't a buoy you launch from the FFG. This is for when you're being pursued or trying to clear DATUM (Dude, About Time yoU Moved!) while you attack.
So you're running from someone who's already got a bead on you and launched two torps aimed right at your posterior. You obviously can't outrun these menacing terrors like four year olds hyped up on sugar and caffeine!
Instead, use your R key and place a marker (Enter key) approximately 6nm and notice the time. You have about six minutes until you'll be scraping yourself off the bottom. Remain at tactical speed(12-15kts), the farther away they are and the more torps they fire gives more bearings, giving their course. fire a snapshot active down the TIW (Torpedo In the Water) bearing, a passive five degrees off that bearing (1,2 Combo tip next issue) and a UUV if you can (see Flank UUV Launch
previous issue). Turn ninety degrees to the incoming hostiles and watch your sonar narrowband. If you hear pinging go ahead and launch an active countermeasure, if not launch a passive and reload it. (Looks really neat in replay having your torps launch then turn around and run past you as you turn to evade.)

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is expanding the envelope for military accountability.
The Navy has been on a real tear, relieving more than a commanding officer a month for the past year, the highest toll since 2003. In two cases in December, ship commanders were relieved not for transgressions but for tolerating transgressions by subordinates. ...Full Story

I served in the United States Army in the Infantry with the 101st Airborne. While I was in active duty I was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. My unit spent most of our time in Mosul Iraq in the northern part of the country.
Mosul is a very old city, there are sections where you would find holes in the street and if you looked down into them you could see where city had been built upon older cities.
During the time of this occurrence (June 2003) we had just dealt with a riot by the local Iraqi people who were upset at the corrupt local police. So to help rectify the problem we fired or arrested the majority of the police. This meant to keep the police stations in the city secure we had to then provide security and twenty four hour guard on them.
My squad had been tasked with a twelve hour night time rotation at a certain police station. The station was a three story building in a very cramped and tightly condensed area of the city. The street in front of the station was only about a car and half wide. And directly across the street was a Mosque with at least ten foot walls. There were roads on either side of the Mosque intersecting into the road in front of the station.
My self and two other guys from my squad were sitting on the balcony of the second floor of the station pulling security on our shift. It was sometime in the night, if I had to guess I would say it was sometime around 0230. While on guard we would use the lights on our rifles to illuminate any car that drove by so we could see if there were any sort of weapons in the vehicle and stuff like that. We heard a car driving towards us from one of the side road on the Mosque, so we got ready with our lights to illuminate the car when it came into view.
Once we saw the car we shined our lights into the vehicle directing the light towards the driver. The drive had a typical reaction to the surefire light (which is blindingly intense) by squinting his eyes and attempting to look away from the light. The passenger had a much different reaction. His eyes seemed to glow with intensity by the light. He stared right back at the light almost looking through it and at us, it was very eerie. At the time the best we could describe his eyes were that of a cat in the dark with a flashlight shined in its face.

I have never heard of a person's eye's being able to reflect light like that before or anything you could purchase to do such things, especially in a second or third world country.
Well after I got back to the United States the movie "The exorcism of Emily Rose" came out. So my then girlfriend, now wife and I went to see the movie. I now describe the mans eye's as looking exactly like Emily's did in the barn when the she named off all the Demons which possessed her. I am completely convinced what I saw that night in Iraq was demonic or an individual who was possessed. .....jeepers creapers, where did you get those eyes ....... here
